When do we fall in love with a foreign country, after years of experiencing culture shocks, differences and other troubles? For some, it may be nice weather. For others, a few friendly locals… But for me, it’s the moment when I see the people of the country do their best to excel at something, whatever it is, against all odds. When they do, they exude a certain energy from “collective catharsis,” visible even to your eyes as a foreigner. This video showed me exactly such a moment:
One of the most beautiful finales in a concert I’ve ever watched… After her amazing program of modern fado full of increasingly intense emotions, she sings that one last song for the audience giving a standing ovation, already touched to the core, even without seeing her tears.
